Impetuous, the wild Rhone, in fury, threw the boats against the piers of the bridges. And, gushing from the Alps, its flooded waves devastated the plains. His anger was that of the gods. But men tamed it: built banks, dams erected. And the Rhone, tamed, was calmed.
